Please encourage your child to self-mark their homework. Allowing pupils to self-mark their homework, where possible with the support of parents, encourages self-regulated learning, which enhances both motivation and academic outcomes. When students actively assess their own work, they engage in metacognitive processes such as reflection and self-monitoring, which helps them better understand their strengths and areas for improvement. Involving parents in this process can reinforce learning and foster a collaborative home-school dynamic, further improving students’ confidence and performance.
Date Set:  Friday 19th December 2025
Due Date:  Wednesday 7th January 2026
For the Christmas break, we’re keeping homework simple and restful. Children are encouraged to play Times Table Rockstars when they can, and to keep reading regularly, logging what they do on Boom Reader, but there is no formal homework to complete from the CGP books. The most important thing is that they enjoy a well-earned rest, spend time with family and friends, and come back refreshed for the new term. We hope they have plenty of fun, relax, and make happy memories over the holidays.

The spellings we will be looking at over the first week back (and testing at the end of the week) are attached below. This is week one of a step by step spelling pattern revision programme we will be following over the next few months. We will think about other words that follow the same patterns during the week as well. It’s a gentle one to start everyone off, given the holiday!

Hope you all have a really lovely holiday!

Welcome to the new school year! We’re excited to have your children back and look forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth! To help everyone settle into new routines, we’ll be holding off on sending homework home for this week. From next week, we’ll let parents know each Friday what the homework for each week is on this page, so you can support your child at home.

Happy learning!
