As the Executive Principal at Ocean Academy, I would like to share my excitement and enthusiasm at having the opportunity to lead such a well-respected and highly motivated junior school. Through our core values of Self – Worth, Engagement and Purpose, we relentlessly strive to ensure that every child aspires to be the very best that they can be. We trust that learning and a positive attitude are strengthened through effectively developing our Learning Skills: Teamwork, Respect, Independence, Resilience, Communication and Self-Motivation.
At Ocean Academy, we provide an enriched and challenging ‘No Limits, No Barriers’ Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) curriculum which is fun and engaging, and ultimately keeps our children at the heart of everything we endeavour to achieve . The ‘No Limits’ curriculum framework is based around INTENT, IMPLEMENTATION and IMPACT alongside the expectation that our curriculum highly values ingenuity, creativity and risk taking. Our curriculum is designed to promote the development of knowledge and skills over time so that learning remains constant and embedded into the long term memory.
We believe in developing ‘the whole child’ and ensure high expectations for social, emotional, physical, moral, cultural and academic growth. It is important to us that the children at Ocean Academy are resilient, determined and believe in their abilities to succeed, whilst not being afraid to make a mistake or ‘have another go’. Our children are excited by learning and with a strong pupil voice; they feel safe and highly valued. In our latest OFSTED report, our personal development, behaviour and welfare was judged as being outstanding. Our staff are recognised as being a strong team who encourage curiosity in an environment where everyone is respected.
The facilities at Ocean Academy are modern and diverse and this allows us to promote learning now and for the 21st century. Our new Creator Space has allowed us to take STEM teaching to the next level. We have secure connections with local secondary schools, universities and employers to ensure our education has purpose and future context.
Ocean Academy has its ethos embedded in the Aspirations Academies core belief that for all children to have high aspirations they must believe in themselves, be actively engaged in their learning and see the connection between what they learn today and who they want to become tomorrow. We work closely with other local schools and community groups and regularly interact with the other academies within the Aspirations Academies group. More information about Aspirations Academies can be found at www.aspirationsacademies.org.
There are numerous opportunities for parents and carers to support the learning at Ocean Academy and we embrace the value of working closely with parents and the local community to uphold the collegiate approach that leads to successful, life-long learning and positive outcomes for our children. In a recent parent survey, 100% of parents who responded said that they would recommend Ocean Academy to other parents. We have a hardworking and enthusiastic Children, Parent, Teacher Association (CPTA) who would love your support.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or you would like to know more about our amazing school.
We look forward to meeting you soon. Welcome to the Ocean Academy family!
