Uniform
The uniform consists of:
● A grey blazer, with island blue braiding and the Ocean Academy logo
● A logo or plain, black V neck jumper (NOT sweatshirt material)
● A white long or short sleeved shirt (not polo shirt) and blue clip or full length tie must be worn
● Black trousers or skirt – formal style not tight fitting or fashion/sports styles
● Children may wear grey formal shorts
● Blue and white gingham checked dress can be worn in the summer term only
● Blazers must be worn to and from school every day
● Only school approved badges should be worn on lapels of blazers
● Earrings should be one individual stud or a pair of small studs (should not be worn on PE days)
● Hair bands should be one colour, discrete and not be overly decorative.
● Hair colour should be one natural colour and hair styles should not be extreme or have lines /
patterns cut into the hair
● Hair below shoulder length needs to be tied up or tied back.
● Tights should be plain black or white
● Socks can be long or short and should be plain black or white
● No make – up
● Nails must be natural and not painted. They should be kept short.
● Religious head wear should be plain and a school colour/neutral colour (blue, white, beige, brown
or black)
● Skirts must be knee-length or longer
We SELL USED AND SECOND HAND UNIFORM EVERY TERM. PLEASE SPEAK TO MRS FUDGE IN THE OFFICE IF YOU HAVE ANY UNIFORM NEEDS.
Most of our uniform can be purchased from local shops and outlets. The blazer, tie and PE t-shirt can be purchased from Brigade. It can be delivered to school free of charge or home direct for a small fee. At school we regularly stock book bags, PE bags and ties.
Footwear
● All children should come to school in black school shoes
● No boots, platforms, high heels, open toe shoes or trainers (other than for PE) are allowed
● Trainers are to be worn for PE / sports and must be worn for these lessons as a health and safety
requirement
Jewellery
should not be worn in school with the exception of:
● one single or pair of ear-ring studs in pierced ears
● small objects of religious significance that can be removed during PE, games and swimming for
health and safety reasons
● A watch can be worn that can be removed during PE, games and swimming for health and safety
reasons. This SHOULD NOT have any phone, camera or recording elements to it
● Medical identification bracelets may be worn by children who have significant medical problems. eg. Diabetes or epilepsy
The school advises parents who wish their children to have their ears pierced to do so at the
beginning of the school summer holidays to allow healing time. Staff will NOT remove children’s
earrings and so jewellery should not be worn on PE days or the child MUST be able to remove their
own jewellery.
PE Kit:
To support our sense of belonging, PE t-shirts will be of the child’s assigned house colour:
Poole = Red,
Weymouth = Blue,
Bournemouth = Yellow,
Swanage = Green
● The t-shirt should be round necked with no collar or button. The t-shirt should have the Ocean
badge on the left hand side
● Plain black shorts
● Plain black tracksuit may be worn in cold weather
● Trainers are best for games skills indoors and out
● For gymnastics or dance, pupils will have bare feet
● An optional black drawstring PE bag can be purchased to carry PE kit
● Hair must be tied back for all PE and games lessons and jewellery and watches removed
