At Ocean Academy, we want every child to become a confident, fluent reader who enjoys books and can access learning across the curriculum. To support this, we use Rapid Phonics and Rapid Read as part of our targeted reading provision.
Rapid Phonics helps children to quickly secure key phonics skills through short, focused sessions. It revisits sounds and blending in a structured, engaging way, ensuring children gain fluency and accuracy in reading words.
Rapid Read builds on these skills by supporting children with comprehension, vocabulary and reading fluency. It provides carefully matched texts and activities that boost understanding, stamina and confidence in reading.
Together, Rapid Phonics and Rapid Read allow us to give personalised, effective support that helps children close gaps, keep up with their peers and develop a lifelong love of reading.
