Year 3 Stone Age Day

Our Year 3s thoroughly enjoyed a Stone Age day last week. The children made a brilliant effort with their outfits and fully immersed themselves in experiencing Stone Age life. We had an excellent workshop with Poole Museum who showed the children artefacts and how to carry out flint knapping using soap and a blunt knife. The children then participated in a hunter-gatherer activity outside using bows and arrows. Later, we transformed the children’s classrooms into  dark caves and the children created Stone Age cave art painting. Throughout the day we read topic based stories around the ‘campfire’. The children were full of enthusiasm for the day and they cannot wait to continue their learning on this topic for the rest of the half term!
